Wildfire prompts about 20 evacuations in Arizona community

A fires forced the evacuation of about 20 people from the unincorporated Mohave County Wikieup community in the northwest Arizonaauthorities announced on July 17.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management officials said the wildfire spread to 75 acres on Sunday and threatened several structures as dense vegetation burned near Big Sandy Wash, a few miles away. from Wikieup.

Smoke is visible along US 93, and officials said the wind-driven fire was creating numerous spot fires in the area.

Authorities have ordered additional resources, including a hot-firing team.
