Two dead after incident in Safford town center

SAFFORD – Two people were reportedly killed in Safford town center early Monday morning in a domestic situation that spread to a neighbour’s residence.

The incident occurred in the 1200 block area of ​​Central Avenue. Officers were first dispatched to the scene around 2 a.m.

According to a neighbour, an elderly man was fatally stabbed in a domestic situation by his son, who may have had mental health issues. The man who committed the homicide was later shot at a neighbor’s house in an apparent case of self-defense.

Safford Police Department cordoned off the area early Monday morning for their investigation, which is continuing. The Graham County Sheriff’s Office is also participating in the investigation.

Police have yet to release the identities of the deceased.
