Las Vegas weather for Monday, December 13, 2021

According to the National Weather Service, three days of cold temperatures in the Las Vegas Valley are poised to turn into a few days of potentially dangerous winter storm activity.

Sunday in Las Vegas was a bit warmer than Saturday with a high of 52 at McCarran International Airport after a low of 32 on Saturday morning – the frosty first reading in 674 days since February 5, 2020.

Sunday morning lows ranged from 33 at McCarran and North Las Vegas airports to 27 at Henderson Executive Airport. Afternoon highs fell several degrees below expected upper 50s. McCarran only hit 52 degrees.

The maximum forecast for Monday is 60 with partly sunny skies.

Dangerous weather forecast

The weather service issued a wind advisory for Tuesday for the entire Las Vegas area as well as a winter storm warning for the Spring and Sheep Range mountains.

Strong winds and heavy precipitation as well as up to a foot of snow are expected. The warning / notice begins at 4 a.m. on Tuesday for 24 hours.

Southerly winds of 20 to 30 mph can blow up to 50 mph in southern Nevada, northwestern Arizona, and southeastern California.

The winter storm could cause very dangerous trips to the mountains and elsewhere, said meteorologist Trevor Boucher.

“There is a very good chance that we could see a quarter of an inch of rain over large parts of the valley and up to a foot of snow in the mountains above 7,000 feet with 4 to 8 inches above. above 5,000 feet, ”Boucher said.
