Josh Allen in cold weather, Cooper Kupp consistency and other hot takes from the wildcard player of the weekend prop – The Athletic

Let’s take a look at the field for the wildcard round of the NFL playoffs with BetPrep gaming pros Brad Feinberg (props side) and Tommy “The Hitman” Hughes (playing side).

The weather is expected to be a major factor in the expected fantastic performances in four games, and a major factor in two of them. There’s historic cold weather in the forecast for Saturday night in Buffalo and, oddly enough, wind is expected to be a major factor in Sunday afternoon’s Eagles-Bucs game in Tampa Bay. While the wind forecast has dropped below 20 mph, there is a chance that gusts will exceed 30 mph in this Florida contest. There is also a chance of rain, which should lessen as the afternoon progresses.

“I like not to juice Josh Allen for throwing more than 1.5 passing touchdowns,” Feinberg said. “I like to juice up two TD passes for top QBs in general and I’ve had great success with that strategy, but the cold weather makes it a straight bet. Allen has over 1.5 touchdown passes in 15 of his last 20 games. He’s 25-8 the past two seasons and he’s 13-4 in 2021.”

Curiously, Allen has little experience playing in cold weather – only four games in his career in freezing temperatures, and the forecast for Saturday night is in the single digits. There have only been five games this century in the playoffs played in single-digit temperatures.
