A celebration of life for George (aka Ed) will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour before services and to stay for lunch afterwards.

George was born on December 27, 1942 in Brainerd, the son of John Burrell and Rose Mary (LeDoux) Sargent. After graduating from Brainerd High School, George continued his education at Brainerd Junior College (CLC) and earned an associate’s degree in accounting. He worked for BN Railroad for many years starting as a clerk at the Brainerd Tie Processing Plant before moving to Somers, MT in 1977 to manage the Somers Tie Processing Plant. Later, he returned to MN to work in the BN Help Desk and then in the Data Storage Department. He moved to Fort Worth, TX with BNSF where he retired. Later he returned to MN, to work for Deluxe Check in their data storage department.

George married Sharon Wood and the couple were blessed with three children. In retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Arizona and returning to Minnesota when the weather permitted. His greatest joys were family, friends, golf, fishing, hunting, storytelling and humor. He was very spiritual and truly lived by the golden rule.

He is survived by his children, Brent (Nancy) Sargent, Brian (Jennifer) Sargent and Debra (Brian) Wilson; grandchildren, Cody, Shannen, John, Jennifer, Karlee, Mataya and Jolson; and great-grandchildren, Philip Edward, Sharon Kay (with two soon-to-be-arriving grandchildren, Walter Ray and Lakelyn Marie). He was predeceased by his wife, Sharon (2009); Parents; and his siblings, John Patrick, Richard Joseph, David Ernest and Rose Mary Sargent.
