Clarkdale AZ (June 6, 2018) – With new sod freshly laid in Clarkdale City Park this week, the restoration project is nearing completion. Now we just have to wait! In order to allow the new grass to fully establish itself before the large crowds descend for our summer events, we need to keep the park fenced for as long as possible.
According to Gayle Mabery, City Manager of Clarkdale, “The city had hoped that the park would be open for the last concert in June. After further evaluation and consultation with landscaping professionals, we decided that letting the grass establish for an additional 9 days would make a big difference in its viability. We really don’t want to have gone that far to see the grass damaged by the traffic of a big event that takes place before the grass is really ready.
With that in mind, the grand official reopening of the park will be celebrated during the city’s annual old-fashioned celebration on July 4. The celebration starts at 07h00 Wednesday July 4e with the raising of the flag at the Clarkdale Gazebo.
“There really couldn’t be a better day to celebrate the reopening of the municipal park than July 4th. This is the premier event in the hometown of Clarkdale, where many families return to celebrate the day. Reopening the city park to the public on this special day just makes sense. »Said Mabéry.
Fortunately for concert attendees, the new Clark Memorial Clubhouse Panoramic City Deck provides a fantastic alternative venue for concerts. Allyn Backus, who helps coordinate concerts for the city’s community services department, reports that the first viewing on the Observation Deck was a great success. “We had excellent feedback from participants during the first concert. The sunsets over Sycamore Canyon and the Tuzigoot National Monument were simply stunning, and the historic setting of the Clubhouse made the events even more special. ” Backus said. Designed for crowds of up to 1,000, the new space can easily accommodate the 400 to 600 people the City expects for a typical summer concert.
June 9e concert (Voyage sentimental) will take place from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the View Deck, located behind the Clark Memorial Clubhouse at 19 N. 9e Clarkdale Street. Announcements for other concert dates will be coming soon.
