A town hall meeting regarding Arizona’s Proposition 310 was held inside Mohave Valley Fire Department Station 81 last Wednesday evening.

Mohave Valley, Arizona: A town hall meeting regarding Proposition 310 was held inside Mohave Valley Fire Department Station 81 on the evening of Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

According to the Arizona Secretary of State’s website, Proposition 310 is an upcoming ballot measure for Arizona voters in November 2022 that the law would establish a firefighter safety fund that would be funded by a increase of one tenth of one percent of the State. transaction privilege (sales) and use tax from Sunday, January 1, 2023 to Tuesday, December 31, 2042.

A “yes” vote means that Proposition 310 will have the effect of establishing a district fire safety fund; increase the transaction privilege (sales) and use tax by one-tenth of one percent from Sunday, January 1, 2023 to Tuesday, December 31, 2042 to pay the fund; and distribute money from the fund to fire districts on a monthly basis.

A “no” vote means that Proposition 310 will have the effect of retaining existing law on tax rates and fire district funding.

Proposition 310 will be on the ballot for voters in Arizona in the next election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

The town hall is a collaboration with the Professional Firefighters of Arizona (PFFA), the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association (AFCA), and the Arizona Fire District Association (AFDA).

Chief Patrick Moore, President of the Arizona Fire District Association (AFDA), led the town hall by presenting a PowerPoint presentation on the history of how Proposition 310 was developed and explaining by the numbers what Proposition 310 would help local fire districts across Arizona, including in Mohave County, Arizona.
